I was born and raised in the little box canyon of Telluride, Colorado surrounded by the natural wonders of the San Juan mountains. I had the immense privilege of attending the annual MountainFilm and Telluride Film Festival while growing up, which not only inspired a deeper connection with the outdoors, but also with the power of film and photography. In high school, I had the opportunity to take three years of B&W Film Photography classes which truly made me fall in love with the delicate process of film and helped me understand what it means to capture something meaningful. I attended one semester at Sierra Nevada College for Digital Arts and one semester at Montana State University in the photography program. Since then, I have been seeking out new outlets and opportunities to nurture my passion for photography. I want to keep learning, playing, experimenting, and trying new things to continue to unveil what it is I want to create!
There is something about my photo process that feels innate, splendidly without direction, and guided by the heart. I often go into shoots without knowing quite what I want to capture or what message I want to relay, hoping to leave room for the vision to evolve on its own. My work generally aims to capture the essence of people and places, to welcome the viewer to feel as though they can connect with the very nature of a place or a person just by looking at it. It's alllll about essence!!
